Namibia

The coming posts will be an impression from our journey through Namibia.
What a beautiful country it is. The colors, the people, the wildlife, it all is really amazing.

City nature in Maastricht

Riding a bike south of Maastricht, brings you to the agricultural fields of Belgium, with all different types of grain.

In the city of Maastricht flowers grow in all spaces, even stone. This photo’s show the famous Sint Servaas Bridge in the background

Sint Servaasbrug [or the St. Servatius Bridge] is an arched stone footbridge  across the Meuse River in Maastricht. It is named after Saint Servatius, the first bishop of Maastricht, and [despite being largely rebuilt after World War II] it has been called the oldest bridge in the Netherlands

Grootte Peel

One of our National Parks in Northern Limburg, the Netherlands is the Grootte Peel. More then 100 years ago workers dug up the peat. Now most of the peat is out and a beautiful wetland remains.

Imposing Skies

It has been a while, but finally we have a lot of rain the last couple of days. Nature needed it badly, so did our farmers. The rain came with beautiful skies.

After the rain a very beautiful sunset

May 12 Day in the Apenheul

The Apenheul is a kind of a zoo in Gelderland province. It’s not a typical zoo with all the wild animals. In the Apenheul they only got apes [apen is the Dutch word for apes]. They’ve got 35 different spices. In this post some photos of the
Hunaman Langoer, a native to the Indian subcontinent.

Enjoying the Spring in the Biesbosch near Hank

The Biesbosch is a unique part of nature in Holland. With all the wetland it’s a great place for birds, beavers, insects and more.
At this moment birds are returning to there nests. We’re waiting for the fish eagle to return!!

Spring is in the air

Spring is definitive in the air. Blossom in the trees, bugs on the branches.
The wind still a bit chill, but a beautiful walk in our beloved Huis ter Heide.
